FILM enjoy a leading status amongst the Athenian indie scene. The music of this avant-garde foursome is a dark-wave amalgamation of post-punk and electronic facets infused by distorted outbreaks and Etten's angelic, yet quirky vocal touches. FILM have enviable live credits with support slots for behemoths such as The Cure, New Order, Iggy & the Stooges, and The Flaming Lips. They have extensively toured Europe with gigs in the UK, Switzerland, Spain, Slovenia and the Netherlands and recent performances at Iceland Airwaves, Denmark's SPOT Festival and Popkomm in Berlin.
FILM's recent collaboration with Rökkurró's lead singer Hildur Kristín Stefánsdóttir was remixed by reputable Icelandic lunatics FM Belfast and was released on Kimi Records.
Press quotes:
'If you've for some reason been looking for your ideal Greek post-punk band, this is it. Heavy bass licks and slaps a la The Pop Group and thick sonic attacks, complete with superb singing and an intense stage presence... FILM reassure you that Greece is still churning out good music.' - Reykjavik Grapevine (IS)
'Clear heritage managed so smart and lovingly on stage that it could turn into a cliché, instead it becomes exciting.' – Gaffa (SE)
'The band have brewed up a sepia soaked sound recalling sleazy nights in darkly lit clubs lined with crushed red velvet - sexy and dangerous as it is sleek and accessible. There's a level of Mary Chain style danger that surrounds the whole thing and lends a sense of drama reminiscent of the best movie score you've never heard.' - The National Student (UK)
'Pleasingly atmospheric post-pop shudder' – Clash Magazine (UK)
'Visually strong expression' – Gaffa (DK)
'Exploring the avant-garde of pop music on their latest album 'Persona' makes FILM an exhilarating addition to the scene of art-rock.' – Gogoyoko (IS)
